Why Fitness? Parkinson’s in Balance believes that fitness is crucial to achieve optimal health. With a proper balance, fitness can be beneficial to individuals that are struggling with life cycle changes such as a new diagnosis of a physical ailment and the stress that is placed on the body due to these changes. Studies confirm the benefit of exercise improves not only physical health and overall well-being, but can further alter one’s emotional state. Approximately 40% of Person with Parkinson’s (PWP) suffer from depression. What does this all mean? Integrating fitness into your daily routine can not only improve your symptoms, but can also keep the dark clouds of depression away. What is a PIB fitness class? We integrate PWR! fitness exercises that are research techniques that target PD-specific issues such as bradykinesia/rigidity/coordination/postural instability. With the training of activated large amplitude whole-body movements with paced, rhythmical motions for improved coordination for gait and balance, our fitness classes are ideal for any movement disorder. Modifications are given to assist any level of mobility.
What is the cost of a class? All fitness classes are offered at no cost.
Where do I register for class? No registration is needed for any of our classes. Just wear something comfortable and be ready to move!
