Today on my Perky’s Picks page, I will be reviewing 2 products that I feel could be helpful for the day in the life of a Parkie. Before I continue, please read my small print disclaimer:
* In an effort to be open and transparent with my readers, I was not compensated for this post, however some of the products mentioned in this blog post I received a free sample in exchange for a review on my website. Regardless, all opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way… unless they sent frozen yogurt.
So now that we got all that out of the way… Today I will be reviewing products from:
When your life revolves around medications, you have to find ways to make sure you never find yourself without access to your lifeline. But who wants to carry around a bag full of medications? I mean, come on… you run the risk of losing that precious loot… and further more, how can you keep them organized, yet fashionable?
Well have no fear Parkies, MYTAGALONGS has heard your concerns and has created a line of pill organizers that can keep all your medications near you, so you never have to experience the fear of “Oh poo, I forgot my meds!” ever again. The products I tried out were:
Vitamin Pod Pill Bouquet Clear (purple)
Vitamin Disk Lace (pink)
Vitamin Organizer Lace (black)
Stacking Jars Girlfriends (Pink)
Waistband Cameo (pink)
-The pill disk and pod have the days of the week printed on the case, so you don’t ever have to say, “Did I take my medication today?” if you have trouble remembering.
-The products come in the colors pink, purple, black, and even camo… what more can a girl ask for?
-The pill disk and pod include a neoprene case with removable plastic pill organizer with 7 self-closing compartments, so it can be easily found in your gym bag, purse or even your murse… that’s a man’s purse. Whatever makes your life easier, no judgment here.
-The stacking jars are perfect if you just need a small amount of medicine to travel with you. You can also put them in multiple locations, such as your car, work, or any other place that you might need a little dose. Like if you were going to the ball to meet prince charming, and you wanted to carry an adorable Chanel clutch purse, (which of course matched your gown perfectly, while accentuating your jeweled stilettos and drew attention to your flawless makeup) but didn’t want to take up space with a large pill case. Because let’s be serious here… your going to need room in that clutch for at least 2 colors of lip-gloss.
-The pill pod was a little difficult getting the plastic pill organizer to stay in the neoprene case.
-The stacking jars might be a tiny bit difficult to twist on the tops if you have fine motor skill issues.
-The very fact that we have to take medication everyday of our lives.
In the end, Perky’s Picks were the Vitamin Pod Pill Bouquet Clear (purple) because it stores larger pills and could hold more medication (the picture on the far right shows the pod full of super yummy PD drugs). It also fits perfectly in my purse. Along with the Waistband Cameo (pink) because it was just big enough to carry your phone, keys, ID/credit card and even one stacking jar so you can always have meds with you. It also allows you to keep your hands free and even comes in Camo so you can feel like a boss.

Now, this product was a little challenging to review, seeing as I don’t personally use a cane. But not only did I break them in, I had my friends in the community test it out. The experience was eye-opening. I found myself, trying to get up and do something around the house, but I would leave my cane behind and not on purpose. I can only imagine how often this happens to Parkies. You almost forget that you can’t rely on your body and jump off the couch to get a snack from the kitchen, but half way to the refrigerator, you start to feel unsteady so you reach for your cane… but it’s not there. In fact it’s across the room where you left it. Now anxiety creeps in because you need help.
I also felt in some situations, I was almost embarrassed to be using a cane at all. But as I have learned not to waste my energy on making other people feel comfortable. I was pretty shocked to receive so many compliments on my choice of cane I was using. The products I tried out were:
Pretty purple adjustable derby walking cane with engraved collar
Carbon Fiber Palm Grip Walking Cane-Left Hand
-I got a ton of compliments on the pretty purple cane. It was a great conversation starter… almost as good as if I was holding a puppy.
-The pretty purple cane felt delicate and feminine, but durable.
-Both canes were reasonably priced and there were many styles to choose from.
-The carbon fiber cane was extremely light-weight and looked pretty cool too.
-The grip on the carbon fiber cane helped with feeling more stable.
-You feel like a pimp because you use a cane… Bonus!
-The pretty purple cane was a little difficult to grip. I noticed my hand felt sore, as I adjusted to using it.
-People who experience dizziness or weakness, these canes might not offer enough stabilizing support.
-You need some upper body strength. Welcome to the gun show!
Although the cuteness of the pretty purple cane was alluring, the carbon fiber grip won me over in comfort. After my friends in the Parkinson’s community figured out that we had a left-hand version, they all agreed they felt safer, stronger, more balanced and almost as cool as a James Bond villain.
